Rationale

MISSION
This Virtual Resource Center aims at raising students’ awareness in relation to a) how our actions affect planet Earth, and b) how to become a responsible and systemic citizen by knowing and implementing different small scale projects that contribute to a greener planet.

All the activities will be framed within a collaborative approach to foster interpersonal skills and the creation of learning communities. In addition, learners will use technology as an educational tool favoring therefore the development of cyber-literacy. Finally, since the project is to be delivered through English, the main elements of CLIL approach (content, communication, culture, and cognition) will provide a framework for designing the learning objects.

LEARNERS' PROFILE

Dear students taking into account your answers to the learning style inventory and my observations in class, the following newspaper article was created. The activities to be developed for this Virtual Resource Center address your needs and learning styles.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
■ This Virtual Resource Center will host the different activities to be carried out as a result of our fifth grade environmental project. It is expected to be working all this year long.
■ This VRC will be used to host other collaborative projects fifth grade teachers are working on and we hope it serves as a model for other grades to start developing their own sites as proper use of ICTs fosters students' lifelong learning skills, both content and language development, and multiliteracies.
